Life . Authenticity . Sensitivity . A new concept for Brazilian wine
Inspired by the search for excellence, and with a new advanced concept for Brazilian wine (boutique wines), the Lidio Carraro Boutique Wine-growing Vineyards and Fine Wines has burst onto the scene with all the enthusiasm of one who is in love with what he does and with the determination to produce wines that express the full potential of Brazilian wine-making.
Carrying on the age-old Carraro family tradition of cultivating vineyards in Brazil, Lidio Carraro Boutique Wine-growing Vineyards and Fine Wines began its rise in 1998 by reconverting and establishing its own vineyards in the Valley of the Vinhedos, nestled in the picturesque Gaucho Mountains. In 2002, Lidio Carraro produced its first wines in the Grande Vindima* Line and increased its investment for the Encruzilhada do Sul region in the mountains of the Southeast in search of a new identity for the wines. The whole venture was aimed at valuing the essence of the wine culture with its tradition, redesigned to meet the values of the present times.
* The Grande Vindima Line is produced only in exceptional crop years.

Merlot

Its intense ruby red coloring reflects vivacity and sensuality. It has great aromatic expression and the personality of Merlot with hints of violets, blackberries, plums, strawberries and raspberries. A full palate wine, it has great character and complexity that it imparts to its aromas. It has excellent balance and persistence, as evidenced by the velvety sensation of its tannins. There is a limited production of 13,500 bottles.

Assemblage

The result of the harmonic blending of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Tannat: outstanding complexity and elegance. It has intense coloring, lively reflections and aromas that are both floral (roses and violets) and fruity (blackberries and black plums), which evolve in the glass to spices and chocolate. It is involving, displaying balance, body and mature tannins with an agreeable and persistent after-taste. There is a limited production of 13,500 bottles.
Before they were even introduced on the market, Lidio Carraro wines were making a splash. At the 10th National Wine-tasting, the Merlot was elected one of the best red wines in Brazil from the 2002 crop. Having created a big impression along with the expert critique, the boutique winery has gained space in the select segment of top Brazilian wines and is catapulting the new brand to new heights. Proof of this was the choice of Lidio Carraros wines as the first Brazilian wines to represent the country in Duty Free Shops, the selected duty-free stores in international airports.
The Lidio Carraros wines are sold only in specialized houses, delicatessens, the best restaurants and hotels and directly to private customers.

The truth of the wine is in the grape...

To establish the Lidio Carraro's vineyards, scientific studies were first carried out to choose the areas that displayed the most advantageous geo-climatic characteristics for growing each variety. The vines grow on a trellis and they are constantly monitored, using green pruning as a way to reduce the production of grapes per plant and maintain the correct vegetation balance so as to obtain a natural concentration and greater wine expressiveness. The harvest from each particular area of the vineyard is carried out separately by hand when it reaches the ideal maturity.

In the winery we make intelligent use of technology and continuously search for knowledge to realize the potential of the wine grapes without modifying the characteristics that give these wines originality. So right from the time the grapes are received, not by using pumps but by using gravity (a pioneer technology in Brazil), we avoid handling at each step of the wine production as a way to maintain its integrity. In this way, it can carry with it the traits of the earth from which it was born, the characteristics of the variety that identify it and a little of each one of those who participates in its conception.
Every combination of soil, climate and work provides a different result. We seek to identify that which best adapts itself to our conditions and attribute an identity to the wines so that they are worthy and in harmony with their region of origin.
