The Casa Valduga Winery
The Valduga family planted their first vineyards soon after they arrived from the Italian town of Rovereto. This was the beginning of their Brazilian story, continued by their subsequent generations. Work performed with love, care, intelligence and courage has paid off. Nowadays, the Casa Valduga winery is one of the most attractive in Vale dos Vinhedos, located in the Bento Goncalves district, 120 km far from Porto Alegre. Its location at an altitude of 671m surrounded by rolling hills, highlights the beauty of the local winegrowing culture.
The Casa Valduga winery also has vineyards in the town of Encruzilhada do Sul, in the south-western highland of the Rio Grande do Sul state. Thanks to favourable climatic conditions, the grapes from this region are of a high quality, essential for the production of quality wines.
The vineyards in Vale dos Vinhedos and in Encruzilhada do Sul produce grapes of fine varieties grown from imported and certified seedlings. Modern cultivation methods such as the espalier system, production control, and select harvests ensure top quality.
In addition, investments into modern technologies and equipment combine with experience and tradition, to ensure an exceptional quality.
Cultivated varieties receive special careThe red varieties mature in oak casks. At the end of the maturing period they are stored in suitable cellars, where they acquire a fine bouquet. In order to support their primary aroma, the white varieties are stored in stainless tanks, and can be consumed new.
The Casa Valduga winery pays special attention to the development of sparkling wines. It is one of the first Brazilian wineries to use and further develop the Champagne wine production method.
Nowadays, it has one of the biggest sparkling wine cellars in Latin America, and invests in products which meet international standards of quality.
From grape pressing to bottling, the Casa Valduga winery gives each individual variety the necessary care, respecting their characteristic features. With its limited production, Casa Valduga is one of the best wineries in the country. The care and effort given to the production is reflected by more than a hundred national and international awards.
The Casa Valduga winery sells its products all over Brazil in specialized shops, hotels and restaurants; they have also found their way to other continents.
Capitalizing on the variation of its product range, Casa Valduga established a new venture, Case de Madeira, which produces natural juices and canned foods. It is located just a kilometre far from the winery.
Innovation and creativity of the Casa Valduga winery have resulted in the establishment of the first wine tourist complex in Brazil.
Charming bungalows overlooking the vineyards and theme gardens next to the winery are looking forward to visitors.
The tourist complex also includes theme restaurants Dom Luiz and Persona. Italian specialities are served in an interesting, friendly environment with live folk music.
The visitors can take an informative tour of the winery, which includes - among other things - a presentation of the wine and sparkling wine production methods.
