World famous wine critique Jansis Robinson and Julia Harding, the editress of "Atlas Mundial do Vinho" tasted brazilian wines in London. They used system of 20 points scale for their wein valuation.The most succesful wine became Talento2004 made by winery Salton with18 points. 15 - 17/7/2007 - 7 medals for Brazil from USA
The brazilian wines noticed big succes in north America at"San Francisco Wine Competition" which held between 15-17/July2007 in Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, California. There were more than 1000 wine samples from 21 contries. Brazil succeed with seven wines and obtained one silver and six bronze medals. 10 - 12/7/2007 - Silver triumf of winery Miolo in Chile
The triumf noted excelent Miolo Merlot Terroir 2004 at prestigeous wine competition "Vinalies América Latina" held in Santiago, Chile between 10-12.july 2007. Miolo Merlot Terroir was awarded by silver medal between another 280 samples from whole the world.
Brazil is the 2nd biggest wine consumer in Latine America.

We have noticed another succes of brazilian wines on VinoForum 2007 competition held in Pardubice, Czech Repuvlic. There were 659 samples from 22 contries. Some of our wines has been awarder. We are very happy with following results:

29/4 - 1/5/2007 - Sparkling wine from Salton awarded in Maastricht

Winery Salton sent one of their sparkling wines
Salton Espumante Brut Reserva Ouro to fight with another more than 5.700 wines on the international competition "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles" held in dutch Maastrich between april.29 - 1st may. 220 proffesional sommeliers and journalists awarded this excellent sparkling wine a golden medal.

2 - 6/3/2007 - Salton Merlot Volpi 2004 got another awards in France and Spain

Merlot Volpi (vintage 2004) from winery Salton obtained golden medal on the international competition Concurso Vins du Monde in Paris which was held between 02-06/march/2007 and another silver medal on the competition Concurso Premio Zarcillo 2007 held in spanish Valladolid among 2.159 samples from 17 coutries of the world.

February 2006 - Miolo takes Gold in France
Vinícola Miolo has just received its biggest acknowledgement in France.
After exporting its products to the most demanding country in the world regarding vitiviniculture, it was awarded with gold and silver medals in the Vinalies Internationales.
The championship is considered by specialists one of the toughest in the world, it happened in February this year and it received 2227 samples from 35 countries, they were evaluated by 123 tasters.
In the market since 2004, both wines were elaborated along with the French consutant Michel Rolland and integrate the grand reserve wines of Miolo.
2005 is the year of best-ever harvest in Brazil!
On 24 September 2005, the 13th year of AVALIACAO NACIONAL DE VINHOS of the best-ever 2005 harvest took place in Bento Gonçalves, in attendance of prominent personalities from the world of wine. This time even a representative of the Czech Republic Dr. Luboš Bárta, the managing editor of the Sommelier Revue of the Hotel a Restaurant professional magazine, and the president of a board of evaluators of the international competition Víno & Destiláty Praha, was present.
Experts agree that 2005 is the year of best-ever harvest in Brazil and according to Luboš Bárta, Merlot from the Miolo winery will be one of the best wines of this year's harvest.
The Miolo, Salton and Casa Valduga wineries, represented by our company, were awarded the first prize. There is something to look forward to!
368 wines took part in the competition, of which there were 105 white ones (28.5%) and 263 red ones (71.55%), 106x Cabernet Sauvignon and 62x Merlot, excellent Touriga National, Ancellotta, Tannat - 22 varieties altogether. The evaluation was conducted within three weeks by 75 oenologists divided into three groups. Samples were taken directly in operation, they were uniformly analysed in laboratories and evaluated sensorially.
Seven white and eight red wines qualified for the grand final and were awarded the first prize - an international board of evaluators evaluated for almost 1,000 attendees. 111 wines produced by 41 wineries were awarded a medal (30% of the best-rated wines).

Vinoforum 2005 has brought us four medals for Brazilian wines.
528 wine samples from 22 countries were present at Vinoforum 2005 (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Chile, Macedonia, New Zealand, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, South African Republic, Holland, Uruguay, USA, France). The majority of the samples came from the Czech Republic (241) and Slovakia (73).
The international evaluation committee (from 10 countries of the world - Austria, Brazil, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Spain, Hungary, Germany, Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Holland) consisted of six subcommittees with five members in each.
Category I - still white dry wines (0-4g/l of residual sugar) - Sauvignon 2004 from Znovín Znojmo, a.s., located in Šatov, the Czech Republic, and Sauvignon 2004 from Stafford Lodge, New Zealand shared the first prize.
Category II - still white wines - others (4.1g/l of residual sugar and more) - the winner was Pálava 2002 Selection of Grapes from Vinselekt Michlovský, a.s. Rakvice, the Czech Republic.
Category III - still rosé wines - there was no winner chosen.
Category IV - still red wines - the winner was Merlot 2003 barrique from Pascual Toso, Mendosa, Argentina.
Category V - sparkling wines - the winner was Espumante Armando Peterlongo Brut from Bebidas da Serra Ltda., Garibaldi, Brazil.
Category VI - fortified wines and liqueur wines - no winner was chosen

Cuvée Ostrava is a competition of wines that are produced by mixing two or more varieties. It is held under the auspices of the K.A.H.A.N. Club (Amateur Evaluators of Alcoholic Beverages) and it is officially recognised by the European Union.
